Green Energy Saves Money and Solves Energy Problems
It is time for our politicians in Washington to think outside the box. America's energy problems will never be solved by wars in the Middle East. The conventional view is the belief that the problem must be solved with one single answer. This is not a political issue, it will always remain a physical issue for the brightest minds in the world to implement now! The money that America has spent on the Afghanistan and Iraq wars could have been used to purchase solar panels and windmills for homes across our country. Grants could have been funded to insulate homes and purchase energy efficient appliances.
The American energy problem can be addressed with wind turbines, windmills, and solar panels. Windmills have a very long life and relatively few operational and maintenance issues. Solar panels will pay for themselves, but they will not last as long as windmills. These can be purchased on-line or from retail stores that install the products. Ask your retail installer to provide you with a repair warranty. Request their help in obtaining local utility and municipal rebates and tax credits.
There are security and maintenance issues related to renewable energy. Understand that the sun does not shine all day long. You will have problems relying on solar energy if you live in a part of the country where there is a lack of sunshine for long periods of time. The upper Midwest will have this issue in winter. The South, Southwest and west coast are perfect areas for wide scale solar and wind energy. Energy storage must be factored into your overall energy plan. If your energy generation is larger than your usage, contact your local utility or energy provider to sell back any excess energy into their electric grid. You can save money and improve your life with renewable energy. The energy savings will pay for the equipment during its life.
The proximity of trees to the solar panels may result in damage to the panel during hail or wind storms. It is very important to keep your trees well trimmed when you add solar energy to your home. Solar products include solar panels for running electric gate openers, electric water pumps, electric generators, passive heating systems for homes, and electric attic fans. You can also purchase kits to make solar panels where the products needed are prepackaged. These kits or do-it yourself projects can save you thousands of dollars and give you electric power when your neighbors have none.
Do not wait for your government to solve the international energy problem. Go green and implement energy saving devices in your homes now. Inquire at your local university to see if there is a networking group for green or solar energy. Form social groups in your region to promote green energy and energy conservation. Keep energy self-sufficiency in mind when building new homes. Purchase new appliances that have low energy use. They will save you money over their useful life, even if they cost slightly more.
Implementation of renewable energy is a political statement. It can also be a way to increase your self-reliance save money. All are good reasons to start thinking green. Write your Senator for his voting record on renewable energy. Demand that your local elected officials get behind green energy now!
